His strategy research has focused on corporate g overnance reform\, shareholder activism and Event Driven strategies. He wa s voted the 3rd best Japan strategist in the Asia Money poll in 2017. Prio r to Jefferies\, Mr. Khan had been CIO and Portfolio Manager at boutique h edge funds\, where he managed concentrated\, absolute-return\, Japan equit y portfolios. Earlier\, Mr. Khan was the Co-Head of equities and Head of R esearch at UBS Global Asset Management in Japan\, where he managed $7Bn in Japan equities and led a team of 12 analysts. Mr. Khan started his career at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi as a credit analyst. He then worked as a sell-side analyst in Hong Kong\, covering the banking sector during the As ian Financial Crisis in 1997-1998. He has an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pen nsylvania with dual degrees from the School of Engineering and the Wharton School.
