The Swiss–Japan Business Outlook is a periodic survey conducted by the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCIJ), aiming to capture the sentiment, challenges, and expectations of Swiss companies operating in Japan. This first edition marks the beginning of a regular survey, to be conducted three times per year, providing a continuous and structured view of the evolving business environment.

The March 2026 edition gathered responses from 37 companies out of 156 SCCIJ company members, offering a representative snapshot of the current business climate. Overall, Swiss companies in Japan continue to show resilience and long-term commitment, while navigating a complex environment shaped by talent shortages, currency fluctuations, and evolving market dynamics.
The report highlights key areas of focus for companies, including the need to attract and retain talent, adapt to changing demand conditions, and strengthen market positioning in Japan. At the same time, it confirms the importance of long-term relationships and local presence as critical success factors for Swiss businesses in the Japanese market.
