We are pleased to invite you to our September Luncheon with Ms. Annette Bossler, Managing Director at Main(e) International Consulting LLC, Maine (USA), who will deliver a speech titled “Japan’s Offshore Wind Sector: How International Developments Drive the Market in Japan and Vice Versa”.
On June 23, 2024, RE100, a global corporate initiative to foster renewable power procurement, called on the Japanese government to take urgent and concrete steps to triple its renewable electricity capacity by 2035 from 2022 levels. 88 of this organization’s 432 members are Japanese corporations. Achieving such a target may be possible with offshore wind. Japan has step by step been making progress, resulting in a multi-gigawatt project pipeline.
In her presentation for the SCCIJ, Ms. Annette Bossler will provide insights into Japan’s offshore wind potential in the global context, recent, ongoing, and future sea area lease tenders, and the development of the offshore wind permitting process. She will also outline opportunities and challenges of Japan’s offshore wind-related infrastructure and supply chain, including with regard to offshore wind and green hydrogen.
